Mum's diary settles row for ex-TV host

[ More info here ]

IN THE end, all it took was a diary to end a civil suit, and nearly two years of silence, between former journalist and former Talking Point host Ida Bachtiar and her mother.

The power of a diary ... :)

In 2003, Madam Saiba, mired in financial difficulties and close to bankruptcy, transferred her share in the flat to Ms Ida's name, fearing it would be seized by her creditors. After that, Ms Ida also paid off her mother's debts. But then, Madam Saiba claimed her daughter owed her money for the share of the flat. They fell out and had not spoken to each other since May 2003.

The misunderstanding then deepened and snowballed into legal action.

Would you guess why she would sue her daughter ?

Madam Saiba admitted: 'It was never about the money. I just wanted us to be like before. We used to be able to talk and laugh. I saw other people getting so much love from their children and I was envious.'

Gee relationships are complicated things. I am sure you would agree things can be much simpler. This is what happens when emotions rule over thinking.
